What’s this going to cost me?
Nothing! The beauty of it is you get paid for your unpaid repair orders. The other day I was explaining our simple concept to a service manager and he asks, “what’s this gonna cost me?” When I reiterated that we were willing to pay his service bill in full, he just stared at me, kind of dumbfounded. So it costs nothing, and you’ll be paid for your work. Even if it seems too good to be true right now, there’s no catch and no hidden anything.
What is a Possessory Lien?
A possessory lien allows our company to hold onto an abandoned vehicle on their property until the vehicle owner pays storage fees and other related costs.
What is this “abandoned vehicle of worth” you talk about?
We shoot our marks for cars with a wholesale resale value of at least $3,500. That means that even if a car has a blown engine or transmission, or significant body damage, if the car is worth at least $3,500 in it’s current condition, then we would be interested in it. That’s not to say we haven’t taken a scrapper or two because a dealership has fed us a bunch of cars; we have. But as a rule we need there to be at least $3,500 in value as the vehicle currently sits for us to recover our investment.
Are you a retail car dealer?
No. PPS Services sells wholesale to dealers. So if you’re a used car dealer looking for a steady source of affordable used cars, contact us. For the last six years, we have been build a strong dealer network. The abandoned car problem is not going to go away, and we’re in this business for the long haul (we have 35+ years experience in the repossession industry).
Will my name or dealership be in published court records?
No. PPS Services will be the filing party. Our name is on all court documents. Your shop or dealership is never mentioned in legal notices, protecting your brand.
We’ve already filed with the police department but haven’t had the vehicle hauled away yet. Can we still use you?
No. If you’ve already filed Form 952 with the police, you’ve started a process that cannot be undone. Your destiny has been charted. So call us before you call the police to file an abandoned vehicle report. If it’s a vehicle of value, why not get paid for your repair orders instead of getting stiffed?

Do you compensate dealerships and service centers for daily storage rates?
No. Not because we don’t want to, but because by law we can’t. In order to purchase your possessory lien, your work on the car needs to be documented, even if it’s a $120 diagnostic fee. We walk a very straight line taking these cars through court. Daily storage rates don’t meet the legal definition of service or repair work necessary to utilize our services. Sorry if the car has been sitting there taking up lot space for a year–but we legally can’t compensate for storage/yard fees.
How quickly can you remove the vehicles?
That depends on certain variables; but we try to get the stragglers out of your yard within one working week. And it depends how far away you are, how many vehicles we’ll be taking with us, etc.
What about abandoned vehicles PPS doesn’t want?
Contact your local police and fill out a Form 952. This will enable the police to call in a salvor who will come remove the vehicle for you. You will not receive any compensation for the vehicle(s).
What is your service area?
Corporate is based in Pittsburgh, but we offer our service to all of Pennsylvania. We do not offer this service in any other state.
How and when do you pay us?
We pay by check or credit card, whichever your preference. We require a copy of a service order(s) to prove you did work on the vehicle(s).
So you’re not actually buying the cars off us, your purchasing the liens we hold against those who abandoned their vehicles on our property.
Exactly. You’ll be selling your possessory lien(s) to us, just like you’d sell debt to a debt collector.
What happens if a car owner comes to us concerning their vehicle that we’ve purchased the lien to?
They and any/all lien holders will find out about the transfer of the possessory lien within days via registered mail, along with the steps they need to take to reclaim their vehicle if they so choose. But in the event they come to you, you just point them back to us. You’re already free and legally clear of the vehicle.
You have my vehicle. What do I need to do to get it back?
